These Terms of our services or websites (“Terms”, “Terms of our services or websites”) govern your use of SUL Local Leads (“SUL,” “Company,” “We,” “Our”, and “Us”) and our services or websites. The following terms of use constitutes a legally binding contract between you, or if you represent an entity or other organization, that entity or organization (in either case, "you," “your,” or "customer") and SUL regarding your use of our services and websites and other related features. In addition, our Privacy Policy also governs your use of our services or websites and explains how we collect, safeguard and disclose information that results from your use. By placing an order for services provided on services or websites or by visiting, browsing, or engaging with our websites or services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the Terms, including any additional terms, conditions, and policies incorporated by reference into it. Unless you have entered into a separate written agreement with us regarding the service, this agreement is the complete and exclusive agreement between you and us regarding your access to and use of the system and service. Your agreement with us includes these Terms and our Privacy Policy (“Agreements”). You acknowledge that you have read and understood Agreements and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree with (or cannot comply with) Agreements, then you may not use our services or websites, but please let us know by emailing at sulinquiry@sullocal.com so we can try to find a solution. These Terms apply to all visitors, customers and others who wish to access or use our services or websites and/or websites.
You must fill out a profile, complete with Username and Password, to make purchases on the site. By using the system, you represent and warrant that:
To be eligible to use the system, you must comply with all of the regulations governing your industry, either by governmental or non-governmental entities. Use of the system is void where prohibited by law.
By creating a username and profile on our website, you consent to receive email or physical snail mail from SUL Local, LLC.
SUL offers no warranty as to the accuracy, convertibility, or quality of the information you receive as a customer of SUL Local Leads. It is agreed and accepted by SUL users that any information purchased on SUL’s sites is subject to inaccuracies based on any number of factors out of SUL’s control. SUL, our staff, and any third parties used by SUL, are not responsible for ensuring the accuracy, convertibility, or quality of the leads or supporting information you acquire on this site, nor are we able to offer refunds for any purchases you make on SUL Local for any reason. SUL offers lead information at a vastly discounted rate compared to other lead generation tools in the industry to compensate for the inevitable inaccuracy of some of the data users purchase. Any projections or estimates as it pertains to your anticipated results are the past results of customers utilizing our services and/or websites and may not reflect your actual results.
Our services or websites are payable by credit or debit card (Visa, Discover Card, Mastercard, American Express). Your card number and expiry date are entered on an encrypted server which ensures the security and confidentiality of the data.
We are not responsible for any fees or charges that your bank or credit card issuer may apply. If your bank or credit card issuer reverses a charge to your credit card, we may bill your account directly and seek payment through another method, including a mailed statement. We are not responsible for any erroneous charges that you process in your self-serve online payment portal. In this instance, customers should email sulbilling@sullocal.com. SUL cannot be held liable in case of fraudulent use of the payment methods used.
Prices are quoted in U.S. Dollars. You agree to pay in full the price for each SUL service involving your purchase of a product by credit card, debit card, or by any other payment means acceptable to us as each payment, if any, is due. You agree to pay all applicable taxes, if any. If we do not receive timely payment from your credit card or debit card issuer or its agents, you agree to pay all amounts due upon demand by us.
If your payment method is declined, we will attempt to process your charge until the transaction is approved. We, and our third party payment service providers, may request and receive, updated credit card information from your credit card issuer, such as updated card numbers and expiration date information when your credit card has expired. If such updated information is provided to us and our third-party payment service providers, we will update your account information accordingly, and will use such updated information to process payments for your future purchases and subscriptions. Your credit card issuer may give you the right to opt out of providing vendors and third-party payment service providers with your updated credit card information. If you wish to opt out of your credit card's updating service, you should contact your credit card issuer directly.
All payments made to SUL by customers for any services and/or websites are final. As SUL and the Customer act within the framework of the Terms of our services or websites as professionals, the Customer acknowledges and accepts that they have no right of withdrawal. However, SUL reserves the right and discretion to grand refunds.
The limitations, exclusions and disclaimers in this section apply to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some states do not allow the disclaimer of implied warranties, so the foregoing disclaimer may not apply to you. You may also have other legal rights that vary from state to state. SUL does not disclaim any warranty or other right that SUL is prohibited from disclaiming under applicable law.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SUL will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use our services or websites; (ii) any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein; (iii) any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from our services or websites; or (iv) any errors or omissions in any content.
You agree to release SUL and its affiliated parties from any claims, demands, damages, liability, costs or expenses, of every kind and nature, known or unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, arising out of or in any way connected with (i) your use of the site and the system, (ii) your use of the services, or (iii) any claim or controversy that may arise from any disputes between you and other users.
In no event shall SUL, its affiliates, or their officers, directors, employees, agents, or suppliers nor any other party involved in creating, producing, operating or delivering the site, system or services be liable for any damages whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, general, special, compensatory, consequential, and/or incidental, arising out of or relating to the conduct of you or any third party in connection with this agreement or your use of the site, system or services, including lost profits, personal injury, emotional distress, death, or other economic losses including loss of data, revenue, profits, or use, and any special, incidental or consequential damages that result from your use of or your inability to use, the site, system, or services, even if SUL has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
SUL and its affiliates will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury which may be incurred by you, including but not limited to loss, damage or injury arising out of, or in any way connected with the site or our services, any reliance placed by you on the completeness, accuracy or existence of any advertising, or as a result of any relationship or transaction between you and any third party service provider, advertiser or sponsor whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), statute or any other legal theory, except as provided for herein, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of SUL and our officers, directors, employees, and suppliers to you or any third party for any and all claims or circumstances arising from or related to the use of the service is limited to the greater of: (1) the amounts actually paid by and/or due from you in the six (6) month period immediately preceding the event giving rise to such claim; and (2) usd $100.
The limitations of damages set forth above are fundamental elements of the basis of the bargain between SUL and you.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
Each provision of these terms that provides for a limitation of liability, disclaimer of warranties, or exclusion of damages is intended to and does allocate the risks between the parties under these terms. This allocation is an essential element of the basis of the bargain between the parties. Each of these provisions is severable and independent of all other provisions of these terms. The limitations in this section will apply even if any limited remedy fails of its essential purpose.
You specifically acknowledge that SUL is not liable for the defamatory, offensive or illegal conduct of other users or third parties and that the risk of injury from the foregoing rests entirely with you. Further, SUL will have no liability to you or to any third party for any third-party content uploaded onto or downloaded from the site, the system, or through the service.
Your only right and remedy in case of dissatisfaction with the site, system or services or any other grievance shall be your termination of your account and discontinuation of access to, or use of the site, system and services.
Neither party will be liable for any failure or delay in performance under these terms (other than for delay in the payment of money due and payable hereunder) for causes beyond that party's reasonable control and occurring without that party's fault or negligence, including, but not limited to, acts of god, acts of government, flood, fire, civil unrest, acts of terror, strikes or other labor problems (other than those involving SUL's or your employees, respectively), pandemic, computer attacks (by government/nation entities or otherwise) or malicious acts, such as attacks on or through the internet, any internet service provider, telecommunications or hosting facility, internet disruptions, or communications failures. Dates by which performance obligations are scheduled to be met will be extended for a period of time equal to the time lost due to any delay so caused.
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless SUL Local, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors and suppliers from and against all claims or demands of losses, liabilities, expenses, damages and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs incurred by SUL and its affiliated parties in connection with any claim by a third party (including an intellectual property claim) arising out of (i) your violation of the terms or any representation, warranty, or agreements whether or not referenced herein, or any applicable law or regulation; (ii) your violation of any third party right, including without limitation any intellectual property right, publicity, confidentiality, property or privacy right; (iii) any disputes or issues between you and any third party; or (iv) your use, misuse, or inability to use the site or system, including negligent or wrongful acts or omissions by you or any other person accessing the site or system using your account. We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, and in such case, you agree to cooperate with our defense of such claim. Without limiting the foregoing, your indemnification obligations expressly include any and all claims, losses, liabilities, damages, fines, penalties, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (v) your violation of the Third-Party Data Restrictions set forth in these Terms; (vi) any claim by SUL’s data licensors, including Experian Marketing Solutions, LLC, arising from your unauthorized use, disclosure, or misappropriation of data obtained through SUL’s services; (vii) your use of SUL data in connection with any FCRA-prohibited purpose; (viii) your use of SUL data for any prohibited industry purpose; or (ix) any privacy law violation arising from your receipt, use, or further processing of data you accessed through SUL’s platform. These indemnification obligations shall survive termination of your account.
Colorado law governs these terms, as well as any claim, cause of action or dispute that might arise between you and SUL, without regard to conflict of law provisions. For any such claim, cause of action or dispute, you agree and consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state courts in the city and county of Denver, Colorado, or federal courts located in the city and county of Denver, Colorado.
The parties acknowledge and agree that any controversy which may arise under these terms, any other agreement related hereto or with respect to the transactions contemplated hereby or thereby would be based upon difficult and complex issues, and therefore, the parties agree that any court proceeding arising out of any such controversy will be tried in a court of competent jurisdiction by a judge sitting without a jury.
Subject to applicable law to the contrary, you agree that any cause of action arising out of or related to the use of our site, system or services must be commenced within one (1) year after the cause of action accrues, or such action will be permanently barred.
No waiver of any provision of the terms by SUL will be effective unless in writing and signed by SUL. No waiver by either party of any breach or default hereunder will be deemed to be a waiver of any preceding or subsequent breach or default. If any provision of these terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, the provision will be modified by the court and interpreted so as best to accomplish the objectives of the original provision to the fullest extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions of the terms will remain in effect.
You may not assign, delegate or transfer these terms in whole or in part, without SUL's prior written consent. SUL may assign, transfer or sublicense any or all of SUL's rights or obligations under these terms without restriction.
You may use our services or websites only for lawful purposes and in accordance with Terms. You agree not to use our services or websites:

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to cancel unconfirmed or inactive profiles. We also may, in our sole discretion, for any reason, at any time, revoke, suspend, or restrict your access to our services and/or websites. If we ban you from our services and/or websites, you may not return to the website or use that service or any other feature of the system for any reason or in any manner, including with a new username or identity. In the event that you return, or attempt to return after you've been banned, you will be deemed to have breached this agreement, and we reserve the right to pursue all rights and remedies available at law or in equity with respect to such breach.
Subject to your compliance with these terms, SUL grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, revocable, non-transferrable license to: (i) access and use our websites and services in connection with your use of the services; and (ii) access and use any content, information and related materials that may be made available through the site, system, and/or services. These terms permit you to access and use the system and services for the benefit of the single individual or entity to whom the license has been granted. The SUL system is for the sole use of the individual or entity to whom the license is granted. Any rights not expressly granted herein are reserved by SUL and SUL's licensors.
We are committed to ensuring that our prospect intelligence platform operates within the highest standards of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and ethical marketing.
Our system only uses lawful, verifiable data sources — including public records, licensed enrichment providers, and user-supplied data. We do not sell or distribute credit scores, bank account details, or any other restricted financial records. All prospect wealth indicators are modeled estimates, designed solely to help users prioritize outreach, not to represent guaranteed financial data.
To safeguard users and their firms:
We design with FINRA and SEC advertising/communications rules in mind, providing transparent provenance for each data point and ensuring that advisors can demonstrate compliant use of information.
Some or all of the prospect data made available through SUL’s platform is sourced from or enriched by licensed third-party data providers, including Experian Marketing Solutions, LLC (“Experian”). As a condition of SUL’s license from such providers, and as a condition of your access to and use of SUL’s services and websites, you agree to comply fully with the following restrictions. Your acceptance of these Terms constitutes your binding agreement to these Third-Party Data Restrictions, which are in addition to, and not in lieu of, all other terms herein.
(a) Permitted Use Only. You may use data obtained through SUL’s services solely for your own internal business marketing and outreach purposes in connection with the professional services you are licensed to provide. You may not resell, sublicense, transfer, redistribute, or otherwise make available any such data to any third party. You may not use the data to develop, publish, or maintain any list, database, directory, or other similar product for sale or distribution. You may not use or integrate SUL data in any product or service offered by you to others.
(b) No FCRA Use. The data provided through SUL’s platform is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., and is not intended to be indicative of any consumer’s creditworthiness, credit standing, credit capacity, or other characteristics listed in FCRA Section 603(d). You agree that you will not use, and will not permit any third party to use, any SUL data as a factor in establishing any consumer’s eligibility for: (i) credit or insurance used primarily for personal, family, or household purposes; (ii) employment purposes; or (iii) any other purpose authorized under FCRA Section 604. Any such prohibited use is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate termination of your account and exposure to legal liability.
(c) No Inference of Sensitive Information. You shall not use any data obtained through SUL’s services to create, infer, or derive any information that constitutes Sensitive Information under applicable privacy laws, including but not limited to: social security numbers; government-issued identifiers; financial account information; information about an individual’s mental or physical medical conditions, history, treatment, or diagnoses; precise geolocation; genetic or biometric data; information from a child under thirteen (13) years of age; ethnicity or race; religious or philosophical beliefs; citizenship or immigration status; union or trade membership; or sexual orientation.
(d) No Use to Train AI Technologies. You shall not use, and shall not permit any third party to use, any data or other content obtained through SUL’s services to develop, improve, train, validate, or benchmark any artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technology or system. Any technology, information, or materials developed in breach of this restriction shall be deemed the property of SUL and/or its licensors.
(e) Prohibited Industries. You shall not use any SUL data in connection with, or to provide or deliver any advertisement, communication, content, site, activity, or product related to: alcohol or cannabis; firearms or ammunition; computer viruses or malware; obscenity, pornography, or adult entertainment; deception or fraud; reproductive health services (as that term may be restricted by applicable law); automotive warranties; political activities; gambling; or any illegal activity.
(f) Territory. All data accessed through SUL’s services is licensed for use solely within the United States. You shall not access, transfer, store, or use any SUL data or services outside of the United States. You represent and warrant that you and your organization are not a “Foreign Adversary Country” (as defined in 10 U.S. Code § 4872(d)(2)) and are not controlled by any such country or any foreign person as defined thereunder.
(g) Consumer Opt-Outs and Deletion Requests. You agree to promptly cease all use of any consumer’s data upon receipt of a valid opt-out, deletion, or do-not-contact request from that consumer, as required by applicable privacy laws including but not limited to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado Privacy Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, and similar state laws. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own compliance with applicable consumer rights obligations with respect to any data you access through SUL’s services.
(h) Data Use in Marketing Communications. You shall not use any SUL data in any marketing communication that explicitly references the selection criteria used to target that consumer or that implies presumed knowledge about the recipient’s financial circumstances, personal characteristics, or data profile in a manner that reveals the data’s source or nature.
(i) Data Destruction. Upon termination or expiration of your account, or upon SUL’s written request, you shall immediately cease use of and permanently destroy all data obtained through SUL’s services in your possession or control, including any copies, extracts, or derivative works thereof. Upon SUL’s request, you shall certify such destruction in writing within five (5) business days.
(j) Audit Right. SUL and its data licensors reserve the right, upon reasonable advance written notice, to audit your use of data obtained through SUL’s services to confirm compliance with these Terms. You agree to cooperate reasonably with any such audit and to provide access to relevant records and personnel as may be reasonably requested.
(k) Third-Party Beneficiary. You acknowledge that SUL’s data licensors, including Experian Marketing Solutions, LLC, are intended third-party beneficiaries of the restrictions set forth in this Section, and that such licensors may enforce these restrictions directly against you. Breach of this Section is a material breach of these Terms entitling SUL and its licensors to seek immediate injunctive relief without the requirement of posting bond, in addition to all other remedies available at law or in equity.
When you pay for a lead or list of leads, you are not purchasing exclusive ownership or access to a lead or lead list. You are acquiring the ability to see reliable information about a lead only. You can make no claim of priority or exclusive ownership of any of the information on the sites. Furthermore, you cannot resell or redistribute the data. SUL will seek legal action against anyone found to be reselling data acquired from SUL.
Users will often see fewer available leads for purchase on subsequent purchases because SUL Local removes duplicate records on subsequent purchases made by the same user. That said, if relevant contact information has changed for the same lead, you are responsible for purchasing that lead's new contact information; therefore that type of lead would be sold subsequently after your previous purchase(s).
You may not use SUL’s services or websites, or information obtained from your use of SUL’s services and/or websites, for the purposes of circumventing or attempting to circumvent SUL's platform tools or features or other services, including for the purpose of avoiding the obligation to pay fees related to SUL's provision of the services. Contacting third parties, advertising publications and outlets, or any other companies or people learned about from your use of SUL’s services and/or websites in an attempt to circumvent using SUL’s services and/or websites – and thereby paying SUL for those services – is strictly prohibited. SUL reserves the right to pursue legal and civil remedy for breaching these Terms.
You understand that the site, system and the services provided by SUL are not provided to any customer, member or member organization for exclusive use. By using the system, you acknowledge and understand SUL may provide the site, system and the services to other customers, members or member organizations, including, but not limited to profile holders, members, or member organizations who may directly or indirectly compete with you, without regard to geographical area or any conflicts of interest.
Customers are asked to enter an email address and set up a unique, personal password allowing them access to our services or websites and/or their My Account information. SUL encourages customers to use “strong” passwords, combining numbers, letters and symbols as well as upper and lower case letters. Customers are solely responsible for safeguarding their profile credentials. As such, customers undertake to keep them confidential and not to disclose them in any form whatsoever. If any of the elements of the profile credentials is lost or stolen, customers must inform SUL immediately, which will then cancel and/or update the profile credentials concerned. Customers are fully responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality of their password. In this regard, customers must ensure, at the end of each session, that they have effectively logged out of the website, particularly when accessing the website from a public computer. You may not transfer or sell your account or username to any other party. In case of loss of their password, customers are able to request a new password through My Account.
Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*). When creating an account (whether on their own behalf or on behalf of a third party), customers undertake to provide true, accurate, up-to-date and complete information, particularly in relation to their identity. Accordingly, they undertake not to create any false identity likely to mislead SUL or third parties and not to impersonate any other legal entity or individual. SUL does not have control over the accuracy or reliability of information provided by customers and therefore cannot be held responsible for any consequences resulting from the provision of incomplete or incorrect information. SUL may, either during or after the profile creation process, request further information from you and/or use third party services, to verify your information. Approval of your profile, activation, and termination of your account is in our sole and absolute discretion. In the event that a customer provides false, inaccurate, erroneous, outdated, incomplete, misleading or deceptive information, SUL may immediately, without notice or compensation, suspend or terminate that customer’s Profile and temporarily or permanently deny him access to SUL’s services and websites. Customers may decide to disable their profile whenever they deem it to be appropriate, in accordance with the Terms of our services and/or websites.
All trademarks, copy, artwork, and video content on SUL’s websites are protected by intellectual property laws, particularly copyright, and are the exclusive property of SUL. It is agreed that the Terms shall not result in any assignment of the intellectual property rights of SUL. You are prohibited from copying, modifying, creating a derivative work, reverse engineering, disassembling or otherwise attempting to obtain the source code (except for cases stipulated by law), selling, assigning, sub-licensing or otherwise transferring any rights to the services or websites or related SUL software. Customers undertake not to modify the services or websites or the related software in any way and/or not to use any modified versions thereof, including (but not limited to) to gain unauthorized access to our services or websites. In particular, customers agree not to access our services or websites by any means other than the through utilizing their Username and Password from the My Profile page on our website. Customers are informed and recognize that our services or websites and any related software used may contain confidential information or information protected by the intellectual property law in force or any other law. Customers undertake not to modify, lease, borrow, sell or distribute such content or create derivative works incorporating all or part of that content, unless expressly authorized by SUL in advance. Such authorization to use the Intellectual Property is given on a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable basis. SUL may revoke its authorization to use its Intellectual Property at any time. In case of non-compliant or abusive use of the Intellectual Property, SUL reserves the right to take any legal action to stop the infringement of its intellectual property rights and to cancel the profile and/or deactivate customers’ accounts in accordance with the conditions stated in these terms of our services or websites.
All algorithms, AI models, and technology used within SUL are proprietary and exclusively owned by SUL. Customers are granted limited, non-transferable rights to use the outputs generated by these systems solely for their own commercial use. Customers are prohibited from copying, modifying, reverse engineering, or disassembling SUL’s AI models or technology.
Our services or websites may contain links to third party services or websites that are not owned or controlled by SUL. SUL has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party services or websites. We do not warrant the offerings of any of these entities/individuals or their websites. You acknowledge and agree that SUL shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, services or websites available on or through any such third party services or websites. We strongly advise you to read the terms and privacy policies of any third party services or websites that you visit.
Due to the nature of the internet, SUL does not guarantee the operation of or access to our services or websites twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
SUL reserves the right to interrupt the operation of all or part of our services or websites at any time, with or without notice, in particular to carry out corrective or ongoing maintenance or to develop the content or presentation. Wherever possible, SUL will inform customers prior to a corrective or ongoing maintenance operation. In addition, customers recognize that our services or websites may be interrupted for reasons beyond the control of SUL and that SUL cannot guarantee continued access to our services or websites. In all cases, SUL may not, under any circumstances, be held liable for any interruption and/or malfunction of our services or websites, for whatever reason.
A customer’s profile is active in perpetuity, becoming inactive only if SUL or the user overtly remove or cancel the profile. Customers or SUL can deactivate a profile on the website at any time for no reason.
In the event of non-compliance with the obligations resulting from acceptance of the SUL’s Terms and Privacy, SUL reserves the right to suspend access to our services or websites without notice or, depending on the seriousness of the action, delete the customer’s profile without any damages being able to be claimed.
We reserve the right to withdraw or amend our services or websites or material we provide via our services or websites, in our sole discretion without notice. We will not be liable if for any reason all or any part of our services or websites is unavailable at any time or for any period. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of our services or websites, or the entire our services or websites, to customers, including profile holders.
We may amend our terms at any time by posting the amended terms on this site. It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically. Your continued use of services and/or websites following the posting of revised terms constitutes acceptance to and agreement with the changes. You are expected to check this page frequently so you are aware of any changes, as they are binding on you. By continuing to access or use our services or websites after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you are no longer authorized to use SUL’s services or websites, and SUL will not reimburse customers for use of services and/or websites even if the customer informs SUL they do not agree or abide by the revised terms or privacy statement.
The Terms of our services and websites constitute the entire agreement between customers and SUL with regard to the use of our services or websites. The Terms of our services or websites govern all usage of our services or websites by customers, subject to the application of additional or specific terms and conditions of use governing certain services or websites for which customers must give their express consent. In general, if one or more provisions of the Terms of our services or websites are held invalid pursuant to a law, regulation or following a final decision by a court with jurisdiction, the other provisions shall retain their full force and scope and shall remain valid and applicable. The same principles will apply in case of incomplete provisions. The cancellation or deletion of a profile is final and irrecoverable, including all of the profile data provided by the customer when he or she created the profile. However, the cancellation or the deletion of a profile does not prevent customers from re-registering and creating another profile.
